Aaron van Dongen invites some conservatory friends to come jam
Expect the unexpected: no two sets alike
Despite being just 20, Aaron van Dongen is carving out a place in the Dutch jazz scene as a versatile and sensitive double bassist. Currently doing his second-year at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, his weeks often consist of multiple performances, bringing his dynamic and grounded bass sound to venues like Café Bebop, Café De Twee Spieghels, Mahogany Hall among many other big and small venues in the Netherlands.
He is a sought-after accompanist in both small ensembles and big band settings, among both the younger and older generation of Dutch jazz musicians having played with the Young Metropole Orchestra, Fritz Bayens Big Band, and other up and coming small ensembles such as the Fresco Quartet and Katsjing Quartet.
Beyond his regular work in the Netherlands, Aaron has also performed internationally, including a tour in China, and appearances at major festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival, BassFest 2025, and the Gouda Jazz Festival.
